Edinburgh Art Deco 1928 -1934
Although the Edinburgh Weavers project was short-lived both Edmund and Alec used it as an opportunity to experiment with new and exciting design ideas. For Edmund, it was a measure of his versatility as a designer that he could, already in his sixties, adapt so seamlessly to the new geometric forms. Both took to the Art Deco style with enthusiasm and we find some of their inimitable and favourite themes transposed with great ingenuity and success into the new modern idiom.
Here are just a few designs from this very creative and innovative period.
